Chapter 4 · 4.3
Creating an automatic table of contents
Watch it in a short video
Have you given your headings a heading style (see Using styles and headings)? Then Euro-Office creates the table of contents for you, with the correct page numbers. If you change something later, you can update the table of contents with a single click.
Inserting a table of contents
- Place the cursor where the table of contents should appear, for example below the title.
- Go to the References tab (1).
- Click Table of Contents and choose a layout: with page numbers and dots, or as a list of links.

The table of contents is now in your document. Each line is a link: hold Ctrl and click a line to jump to that chapter.

Updating the table of contents
Have you added, changed or moved headings? Then click Update Table (1). Choose Update entire table if headings have been added, or Update page numbers only if only the numbers have shifted.
More settings
Via Table of Contents and then Settings, you can choose, among other things, how many heading levels to include, whether the page numbers are right-aligned, and which fill character to use. Use Remove table of contents to remove it again.
